Prescription diabetic footwear can help prevent more serious foot health complications that can arise as a result of diabetes. They are specially fitted and made to help those with diabetes but can also help people with arthritis, Morton's Neuroma, plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis. Dr. Comfort footwear comes in all kinds of designs: sporty, dress, casual and work styles, with your choice of shoe laces or velcro closures.

Medicare and supplemental insurance may reimburse for all or part of the cost of Dr. Comfort shoes and prescription inserts for diabetics who meet certain general criteria. A qualified health professional can determine if you are eligible.

Compression Stockings

We also carry compression stockings and diabetic socks for those with leg swelling. To have your feet measured, we recommend that you stop by in the morning, Monday through Friday, to get measured for the correct size.  Measuring feet early in the morning before they swell is the best way to get a perfect fit. Spenco and Pinnacle brand arch supports and orthotic supports are also always in stock.

Stockings and Compression Wear

Compression garments are pieces of clothing, such as socks, pantyhose, sleeves, etc., that provide support that is especially useful for people who have to stand for long periods, people with poor circulation or those prone to swelling and pain in their limbs. They are designed differently than traditional garments. For example, unlike traditional socks and hosiery, compression socks and stockings are tightest at the ankle with decreasing compression higher up the leg to promote an upward flow of blood.

Garments can come in varying degrees of compression. The higher degrees require a doctor's prescription. Compression garments worn on the legs can help prevent deep vein thrombosis and reduce swelling.

Compression sportswear is also worn by athletes during exercise to prevent chafing and rashes, and can be worn post-exercise to ease muscle stiffness and quicken recovery time.
